Ontario Health is hosting a webinar to introduce its draft Ontario Medical Imaging HL7® v2 Implementation Guide, explain the feedback process and answer questions.
About the Draft Guide
Healthcare computer systems need a common way to exchange information. HL7 v2 is a messaging standard that allows these systems to communicate.
The draft guide provides technical instructions for hospitals and Integrated Community Health Services Centres (ICHSCs) using HL7 v2 to connect to Ontario’s provincial electronic health record during the transition to a newer standard called FHIR. It helps technology teams connect their systems so medical imaging information can be shared consistently.
The initial focus is radiology, with plans to expand the guidance to other imaging specialties over time.
Why Does it Matter to Your Clinic?
While the guide is intended for technical teams, clinic owners and operators can help ensure the right people are involved.
Consider sharing this invitation with your IT lead, radiology information system provider or imaging system vendor. They can assess how the guidance relates to your current setup and identify questions about potential changes, timelines and implementation.
The notice is an invitation to review draft guidance and provide feedback. It does not announce a deadline for clinics to replace or upgrade their systems.
